04-29-05: Had a great time at the Mount Washington Hotel. Not many people there to see it, but boy, what a room. Love that piano, too.
One of the nice things about playing in places that are so far afield is that I get to listen to a lot of music on the commute. Here's a few CDs I've been into lately:
Duncan Sheik - Humming
Elliott Smith - From A Basement On The Hill
Beck - Guero
Mitch Hedberg - Strategic Grill Locations
My next purchase will probably be Ben Folds' new one, Songs For Silverman. I think it's out now; maybe this weekend I can pop down to the corner store and grab it.

04-28-05: I got an email from Garageband.com with some info about my upcoming Track Of The Day. They sent me this cool little
icon to put on my page. Observe:

In other news, tonight I go back to the Mount Washington Hotel for another piano show. Can't wait. The piano there is one of the best I've ever played; it's a 1902 Steinway that was built for the hotel, and it's in
immaculate upkeep. It almost seems a shame to waste it's quality on cheesy pop rock covers. But baby, that's what I do.

04-26-05: Tonight is the open mic at the Wildcat Inn and Tavern. Thursday I'm back at the Mount Washington Hotel (which went quite well on Sunday),
and Saturday is a solo show at the Dutch Treat in Franconia.
I submitted my song Asshat to Garageband.com not long ago, and it's enjoying a fair bit of success.
Matter of fact, it's going to be the Song Of The Day in the hip-hop category on Tuesday, May 3. Go me! I should start buying some bling or something.
|
04-22-05: Looks like there was a scheduling mixup at Goodfella's, and No Limitz will NOT
be playing there this evening. We're still on for Saturday, though, so come on down tomorrow. And go and see whatever other band they booked over us tonight or something.
Actually, it'll be nice to have a Friday off. I can pound the pavement a bit. There's a few places I've been meaning to check out, so I think I'll go out and do that. Or maybe I can get my set in order for Sunday, when I'll be playing
the grand piano at the Mount Washington Hotel. That is going to be awesome. I love doing shows like that, and I don't get to very often these days. Can't wait. I'll be there twice this coming week, actually; Sunday and Thursday, from 9pm to 11pm.
|
04-20-05: Back at the Lucky Dog tonight. Should be good. I'm in the mood to play. The callous on my left middle finger broke this morning though, which is kind of a drag.
After several false alarms, it looks like my summer project is a go. I'll get confirmation in the mail as soon as today, and details will follow immediately.
In other news, it's my birthday today. I think we'll have a barbecue before the show tonight.
|
04-14-05: I recently set up a page on Myspace, since it's what all the cool kids are doing. It's actually gotten a lot of looks, which is cool. Plus, they host the songs,
so bandwidth is not an issue. Bonus! Pop over and check it out, but you'll find it pretty redundant if you read this site regularly (yeah, I'm talking to both of you).
Open mic at the Lucky Dog went well last night. Things were kind of quiet for the first couple hours, but then it picked up. Chris was there, and a few other musicians actually
showed up this time around, so the audience got a nice mix. There's this one dude, Junior, who plays a mean harp. Harmonica, that is.
|
04-13-05: I hosted the open mic at the Wildcat Inn and Tavern with Jeremy Dean last night. It was pretty good; I actually took off about an hour early
because dinner didn't really agree with me. Surprising, since the chicken sandwich there is the best I've ever had, and no lie. I'm feeling better now; I stayed up in Jackson at a friend's place, and drove back this morning.
Tonight is the open mic at the Lucky Dog in Plymouth. A little closer to home, thankfully. Man, it's a different world up in Jackson. I swear, it was snowing sideways this morning when I drove through Crawford Notch. When I got back down here, there isn't even
any snow on the ground.

04-10-05: Man, I love playing at the Sunset Grill in Campton. It's close to home, and things usually go very well there. Great food, too; I had an outstanding
prime rib last night.
Chris Downing was at last night's show, and he played in between my sets. I like it when other musicians can mix it up a little bit for the
crowd. Plus, it gives me a chance to finish my drink a little more leisurely, which is nice.
I'm playing Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday this week. Taking the weekend off to celebrate my upcoming birthday. I'm gonna be... let's see... 36. Geez.
|
04-08-05: I was over at Chris Downing's place last night, working out some stuff for our
night at the Lucky Dog on 4/20. I got to show him how to play a couple of my tunes, which is something new. I've never done my material with other musicians before.
I'm still researching which sound card to put in my new computer. I'm not very knowledgeable in this particular arena, so I'm taking slow steps, and hopefully I won't buy something stupid. Advice is appreciated.

04-07-05: Things wound down a little early at Rosa Flamingo's last night. Not a bad show, though; my voice felt pretty good. Good enough to pipe out
'Bennie And The Jets' by request, in fact. I don't usually do that one, but it came out all right.
I've got a couple shows over the weekend. I'm really looking forward to playing the Sunset Grill. It's been quite a while since I did a show there.
My summer schedule is still in flux. I thought I'd have it nailed down by now. Oh well. Stay tuned, faithful readers.

04-04-05: Wild times at the Red Parka Pub. I played the first set on Friday blindfolded. It went okay, but I felt the joke was played out by the end of the set,
and I took it off after that. Actually, it went back on for the end of the show.
Saturday's show went just as well. Lots of people dancing, which is always nice to see. This weekend marked the end of the Jeremy Dean Band, but I'm sure I'll be working with him on other projects soon enough.
For now, it's on to the next thing: a solo show at Rosa Flamingo's in Bethlehem, NH on Wednesday. That's always fun. And the coconut chicken is outstanding.
And I got a new computer over the weekend! I'm still getting it set up, but as soon as I pop in a shiny new audio card, I'm back in the recording game.
|
04-01-05: Tonight and tomorrow I'll be in Glen, NH at the Red Parka Pub. I've been kicking around a couple ideas for April Fools' Day, and
I think I've settled on one inspired by a challenge from a friend; I'm going to play tonight's show blindfolded. Not much of a prank, really, but I'm very curious to see if I can pull it off.
I close my eyes a lot when I play anyway, but I look when I have to, for sure. We'll see how it goes.
I've done no recordings since my computer came back from the shop. It doesn't run like it used to. I'm shopping around for a new one, and I can't wait to have the studio up and running again. Details soon, hopefully.
