07-26-05: I showed my schedule to a couple of the older musicians in the area, and they said it reminded them of the 'old days' when you used to be able to work every day of the week, and make a good living doing it. I'll take it while I can get it. The Margate was especially good this past weekend. I finally put together a songlist to hand around to the audience, and I got a lot more requests as a result. People were actively interested in hearing my own material too, which is always fun to do.
Speaking of which, I'm starting to think about upgrading my recording equipment and doing my CD at home. I don't know though, I'm still on the fence about it. The thing that concerns me is trying to bring other musicians up to speed on what I'm doing. And if I'm playing all the tracks myself, well, that's a lot of studio time, I think. So what I might do is record the tracks at home, and bring the results somewhere for spit and polish.

07-19-05: Another busy little weekend coming up. This has been a good test for me; last week I got through seven shows in five days without competely losing my voice. In fact, I think I was happiest with the last show. It did teach me that I have to be careful about a few things though. And as always, I gotta wear sunscreen.
In other news, I got that used Kurzweil I was looking at. It's got a key that needs a little attention, so I'm breaking it down tonight. But it sounds gorgeous. I'll do some recording with it as soon as it's running at 100%.

07-14-05: Mitch's was a lot of fun last night. A smallish crowd, but very enthusiastic. And I had a couple special guests stop by; Chris Downing played a few songs between sets, and Matt Smart stopped by and sat in for a tune.
I just got a call from my buddy Bob King. He needs me to cover a show for him TONIGHT at Walter's Basin in Holderness. I'll be there from 7-10pm. Walter's is a beautiful place, right on Squam Lake. I've played there a few times, including last New Year's Eve.
In other news, the TwinGeekz Artz Project is marching ever forward. My submission this week was a live recording of a song I wrote quite some time ago, but had never put down on tape/CD/other. I may have to record the upcoming week's piece live as well, as I have little time to even get my gear back into the studio room.

07-11-05: Note to self: WEAR SUNSCREEN. I got burned pretty good at the Margate show on Sunday. Good show, though. Last week was insanely busy, and the coming week is more of the same. Having a great time with it, really. It doesn't leave me much time to do any recording, though, and I miss that. I've got to put something together for this week's TwinGeekz Artz Project submission. Maybe tonight; I don't have a show until Wednesday.

07-07-05: Good times at the Lucky Dog last night. I ran into Mike Conner, the drummer from one of the first bands I was in, Naked Java. Damn good to see him again. There weren't a lot of performers, so I ended up playing quite a bit. No problem with that, it's better than sitting around.
Tonight I'm resting up for the weekend. And maybe doing a little recording if I get bored.

07-06-05: I'm smack in the middle of the busiest week I've ever enjoyed as a musician. Sunday was a solo show at the Margate; Monday was the Boot Hill with No Limitz; Tuesday I joined the Jeremy Dean Band for a show on the Gorham town common, followed by hosting the open mic at the Wildcat Inn & Tavern in Jackson. Tonight I'm hosting the Lucky Dog's open mic night in Plymouth. Thursday is a day of rest. Then Friday the Margate shows start again for the weekend. Oh, and I'll be at the Dutch Treat in Franconia on Saturday night.
In other news, I'll be taking a look at a used Kurzweil keyboard soon. I've always wanted one, so hopefully this one's in good upkeep.
