10-31-05: Happy Halloween! Tomorrow,National Novel Writing Month kicks off. If last year was any indication, you can expect my posts here to
drop off a bit while I attend to the task of writing a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. But I'll still do my best to keep up with my show schedule on here, and whatnot.
I've recorded a peculiar submission for an upcoming SongFight called Rockapalousaninjananophone Eternal - The Vishnu Cycle. Take a look; they should be updating the site soon. | 10-27-05: Busy week! Last Saturday I played a show at The Balsams up in Dixville Notch, NH. What a nice place that is! And they've asked me back this Friday, 10/28. They have a
baby grand piano on the stage. So nice.
In other news, I've submitted a SongFight piece called Welcome To _______. It's getting pretty good reviews, but there's a lot of heavy-hitters in this fight, and I don't anticipate a win. In fact, my vote will likely go to Jim of Seattle for his
amazing submission. I invite you to go to SongFight and choose for yourself. There's a lot of good ones this week.
Only four more days until National Novel Writing Month! | 10-17-05: Hey there. Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been under the weather for about a week, but I'm on the upswing now.
It took a long time to kick this chest cold because I had to go play gigs on smoky bars every couple days, which would set me back a few steps each time. But now I have a week of recovery ahead of me.
That said, I can't wait for the weekend. The White Mountain Music Center is having its grand opening Friday through Sunday. Friday night (10/21) there will be a performance by a local
drumming group, and I'll be playing an opening set for them at 7pm. Saturday will feature performances by eight local musicians from 1pm-5pm. I will be playing this one as well, and I'm also the MC for the event. It's very exciting to have a
48-track digital music studio (and Roland dealer) opening right here in my sleepy home town.
In other news, National Novel Writing Month is fast approaching. If you haven't checked it out yet, do so. You could be a novelist by December. | 10-04-05: Work continues in the studio, and the phone is starting to ring as well. There's a couple interesting show opportunities in the air now, and I'll let you know
the very minute any of them solidify.
It's time for the annual ThemeSongFight! I pulled Kamakura's name this year, and penned The Kamakura Theme Song. A
fellow known as Michael Gum is working on a Jim Tyrrell theme song, apparently; I'll post a link when I get it.
November is National Novel Writing Month. I took part last year, writing a 50,000 word novel in thirty days. I hope to do it again this year, although my schedule is a bit busier
this time around. If I can get a good first couple days under me, it should go okay. You should check out the site and write a book. It's quite an experience. |
