11-29-04: I won! I finished my book on Sunday morning. National Novel Writing Month is officially over, for me anyway. And the book isn't completely terrible, either. It's called "Murphy's Luck", and I'll probably sit down to revise it sometime in January.
In the meantime, it'll be good to get back to songwriting for a while. Oh, the show at the Bridgewater Inn with Rick Clogston and the Red Hat Band went well. We'll be there again on January 1. That's right, put your New Year's resolution off for one more day and come out and party.
No Limits has a couple shows coming up too. On Sunday 12/5 we'll be playing a benefit called the Santa Jam at the Laconia Rod & Gun Club. It's going to be exactly as much fun as it sounds. And the following Friday and Saturday, the 10th and 11th, we're back at Goodfella's in downtown Laconia for another two-day engagement.
I still don't have anything booked for New Year's Eve. Maybe I'll actually be able to just go out and party. It's been a while, I'm usually working that night. I guess if anyone knows a place that needs music that night, have 'em give me a call, yo.

11-21-04: My apologies for not updating sooner. It turns out National Novel Writing Month is a harsh mistress. I'm over 30,000 words in now. If I can maintain a good pace between now and the end of the month, I'll actually have a 50,000 word novel. Hooray!
I haven't done any recording since I started NaNoWriMo, but I did play a solo show on Friday at the Cannon Mountain View Motel in Franconia. It was perhaps my best solo gig since... well, ever. Everyone had a great old time, and I can't wait to get up there again. There's an open mic on Thursdays in Franconia at the Dutch Treat that was a lot of fun too.
Rick Clogston and the Red Hat Band are back at the Bridgewater Inn this coming Saturday. Things were pretty rowdy at the Halloween show we played there, and this one should be good too, although I don't know if there will be any Thanksgiving-themed events or anything.
After the novel is done I'm going to do some recording, but for now, it's back to the books. I'll try to be better about checking in here though. |
11-08-04: The weekend at Goodfellas was crazy. Thanks to everyone who showed up and made it a great time. Things there keep getting better and better. No Limits will be back there in December for another Friday/Saturday set of shows. Pencil it in!
National Novel Writing Month has turned the corner to week 2. I'm only a little behind; right now I'm at 11,166 words. But I like where it's going well enough, and I'm still plugging away. By the end of November I'll have a big mess of a story on my hands that will require major revisions (more like surgery) to make it coherent. But it'll be on paper, by God.

11-03-04: This Friday and Saturday, No Limits will be back at Goodfellas. Our recent shows there have gone quite well. I expect a good turnout and a good time.
I'm typing away as fast (and often) as I can in the National Novel Writing Month project. I've got over 4000 words now; not bad for the first two days. Weekend shows and such will definitely get in the way of my writing time, though. In fact, what am I doing updating this site? I've already typed about a hundred words now! I should be working on the book!

11-01-04: Today I begin the National Novel Writing Month project. It probably means I won't be recording much music this month. I do have a few shows coming up during November, though, and I certainly won't be turning away other work if it comes up.
Saturday's show at the Bridgewater Inn was great. I took a lot of pictures, and I'll post a few of them here soon.
